At least one in seven people currently living in the UK have some level of hearing loss, approximately nine million people. Ranging from mild to profound, static to progressive, along with different levels of pitch deafness, the diversity in types of hearing loss will affect individuals in varying ways in all aspects of day to day living. An estimated 90% of those with hearing loss acquire the loss, become deafened, throughout the course of their life and many of these have to live with symptoms connected to hearing loss such as Tinnitus (internal noises) and Menieres Disease (periodic attacks of vertigo).

Deaf and Disability Awareness Consultancy and Training Services (DeafACTS) aims to educate in all aspects of deaf awareness and equip delegates with the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively with deaf people removing preconceptions and fear created by myths, misconceptions, and lack of understanding.

In contrast to many of the Deaf Awareness courses currently available the perspective of the training comes from that of a culturally hearing deafened     person. The needs of and information about BSL users will form a valuable part of the sessions but training will cover in detail deafness etiquette and   adjustments for those who live or take part in the hearing world.

Disability Awareness sessions consist of training in all aspects of Pan Disability Equality training and cover all aspects of disability issues within both the workplace and general everyday life.
